Proclamation of the 12 senatorial candidates: Completed!

Finally, the senatorial candidates who made it  to the top 12 were completed!

May 16, 2013 - Three days after the national election, the top 6 senatorial candidates which includes Grace Poe, Loren Legarda, Chiz Ezcudero, Alan Peter Cayetano, Nancy Binay and Sonny Angara were officially proclaimed as senators of the Republic of the Philippines at  the PICC (Philippine International Convention Center). Despite the absence of Nancy Binay, the proclamation went through lead by the COMELEC Chairman Sixto Brilliantes.

On the other hand, the reason Binay did not attempt to attend is because only 24% of the total votes were canvassed during the proclamation. According to the campaign manager of UNA, Rep Tobias “Toby” Tiangco, they even sent a request to postpone the proclamation.

May 18 2013 -  Saturday, the remaining six senatorial candidates were proclaimed. Benigno Bam Aquino, Aquilino Koko Pimentel and Antonio Trillanes were proclaimed earlier. Cynthia Villar, JV Ejercito and Gringo Honasan were proclaimed at 7:00 PM that day. Aside from the three, Nancy Binay and Koko Pimentel were also formally awarded their certificates of proclamation just minutes ago (Manila Bulletin).

All the 12 senators will serve for a term of six years starting on June 30, 2013 in accordance with Section 4 of the Constitution (Manila Bulletin).
