Kansas City Public Library
Building of the Public Library was one of the most significant events influencing leap of Kansas City from a small country town to a metropolis. It was established as the Public School Library in 1873. It became a cultural center providing both educational resources and entertainment. This library enhanced image of the city and made it more attractive for the East Coast promoters. Otherwise, the beginning of the library was rather humble.
Bahá’í House of Worship a.k.a Lotus Temple
The Baha'i House in New Delhi with its 3.5 million visitors a year is one of the most famous buildings in the world.In 1976, the Iranian architect, Faribarz Sahba, was selected to design the building that was inaugurated in 1986. Before undertaking the project of the Temple, the architect had traveled extensively in India to study architecture, art and symbols of this land.The temple is shaped like a lotus flower, symbol of purity and beauty, to the surface, surrounded by its leaves.The light and water are essential elements for the decoration of the house, unlike other temples in which there are many statues.The designer tooks almost 3 years to complete detailed plans of the Temple.Around the central hall there are 9 beautiful arches; the shape of these arcs is given by a series of cylindrical and conical surfaces.The combination of these different surfaces greatly enhances the beauty of the arches that bear almost the entire load of the superstructure.
Guggenheim Museum
Built by Nervion River Guggenheim Museum of modern and contemporary art was designed by Canadian-American architect Frank Gehry. The building’s silhouette resembles the ship while the design was random, which helped it, according, to architect catch the light.
